about

The name of this song came to me when I worked with a guy named Michael Starita at BeBop Records in Jackson, MS. The title was a play on his last name, and I always liked it as a song title or band name. Michael Starita is now a Grammy-winning record producer, by the way.

This song is also in a tuning that I don't quite remember...

lyrics

I tried to explain love to myself
I still didn't get it
she dismantled jokes and breathed wine
waiting for words to fill her sentences

Flowers by Georgia
relieve me, release me
from hourly anomie
deserts become seasons
and seasons of centuries

She finished off all of her thoughts
by pulling up her socks
then we headed out for the coast
and the coast for the postcards
took the air from her hair
making harmony for energy

Then we called off the calendar
to invent these super-times
when we split our own atomic schemes
to prove the theory of ourselves
